About this treatment

General Dentistry at Brighter Smile

General dentistry is the backbone of everything else we do. It covers the examinations that find problems while they are still small, the x-rays that show what the eye cannot, and the fillings, extractions, and gum care that put things right. Dr. Farhad Goshtasby Ardekani has practised for over 30 years, and the approach here has not changed in that time: look properly, explain clearly, and treat only what genuinely needs treating.

Why it matters

Care that keeps small problems small

  • Problems caught early

A cavity found in the enamel needs a small filling. The same tooth left two years can need a root canal and a crown. The examination is the part that saves you money.

  • An honest second opinion

We tell you what we actually see. If a tooth can be watched rather than drilled, we will say so, and we will show you the x-ray it is based on.

  • One clinic for the whole family

Children, adults, and grandparents are all seen here, and you get the same familiar faces each visit rather than whoever is free that day.

  • Referrals rarely needed

With an endodontist and a periodontist on the team, root canals, gum surgery, and implants are handled in-house instead of being sent across town.

What to expect

Your first general dentistry visit

  1. 01

    A proper look

We examine your teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissue, and take x-rays where they will tell us something useful.

  2. 02

We show you what we found

You see the images and hear what they mean in plain language, no jargon, no pressure.

  3. 03

    A written plan and estimate

If treatment is needed you get a clear plan with costs, and we check what your insurance or the CDCP covers before anything starts.

  4. 04

    Treatment at your pace

Urgent work first, elective work when it suits you. Nothing is booked that you have not agreed to.

General dentistry FAQs

Not covered here? Call (604) 971-0791. We'll give you a straight answer.

Every six months is the usual default, but it should be tailored to you. With healthy gums, no active decay, and little tartar build-up, once a year is often enough. If you have gum disease, smoke, have diabetes, are pregnant, or build tartar quickly, every three to four months is better. We will tell you honestly which applies to you.

Yes. We accept the CDCP as well as most major Canadian insurance plans, including refugee coverage, and we bill your insurer directly so you are not out of pocket while waiting for reimbursement. Bring your member number to your first visit.

Yes, new patients are welcome. Call (604) 971-0791 or send us a message through the contact page and we will usually confirm your appointment the same day.

Healthy gums are pink, firm, and painless. Press gently with a clean finger, they should not hurt. Redness, swelling, a whitish tinge, or bleeding when you brush are early warning signs. Bleeding gums are not normal, but caught early the damage is usually reversible.

Tell us at the start of your visit. A large share of our reviews mention exactly this, patients who usually dread the dentist describing a calm, unhurried appointment. We go at your pace, explain each step before it happens, and stop whenever you need us to.
